Eden smashes the Brighton marathon for Become!

On Sunday 9 April, as the temperature soared, thousands of runners prepared to hit the streets of Brighton for the marathon. Among them was Eden Carr, who was running to support children in care and care leavers with Become.

Eden is care-experienced herself and chose to run for Become because she wanted to support children in care.

“I grew up in loads of different foster homes – I wanted to find a charity which supported foster children. And I found Become!” she says.

Running a marathon is no mean feat – but running a marathon on the hottest day of the year so far definitely took the challenge up a few notches! “I’m one of those people who sits in the shade on holiday and don’t cope well in the heat,” Eden says. “It was so hot on the day I have sunburn in the most random of places!”

This was Eden’s first full marathon and she says she was “chuffed” to complete it. Here at Become, we’re not only chuffed, we’re really proud and grateful for her support. Thanks so much Eden!

Eden is fundraising with JustGiving – you can donate at her page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Eden-Carr
