Khatija, who is care-experienced, graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2011 and then worked as an outreach officer at the Cambridge Admissions Office. Her work included establishing “Realise” an outreach project specifically for young people in care. Khatija then completed a MPhil in Modern Middle Eastern Studies with Arabic at the University of Oxford, graduating in 2014. Khatija worked as an advocate for young people in care and care leavers for three years. Khatija is now a practising barrister at Monckton Chambers, with a practice that includes community care law. Khatija has been a Trustee at Become since 2012, and was elected Senior Independent Trustee in 2017.
