Hello, I’m Abby. I’m a corporate parent and a co-production advisor within my local council.
This job involves making sure that the council is fulfilling its corporate parenting responsibility. I know this is important as I myself am a care leaver.
My top three attributes for any job would be patience, empathy, and resilience. In any job, there are going to be times when things don’t go as planned and don’t go your way.
It’s important to take a step back, take a breather.
Stuff will get in the way, it’s alright, take a step back, and you can always come back to it. And my one piece of advice will be don’t be too hard on yourself, there’s always a way around it. It may take longer, but you will eventually get to the job you want.
It sometimes just takes longer than you want it to, so just be patient and you will get there.
