Alice Roche
What do you do in your role as trustee at Become? As a trustee, I help provide strategic oversight and support to the leadership team, ensuring Become stays true to its mission while remaining sustainable and well governed. I bring my professional background in operations and culture to board discussions, with a focus on how we create impact, empower care experienced young people, and build a thriving and impactful organisation.
Can you say a bit about your relevant experience and qualifications? As well as being care experienced, I am a strategic and values-driven senior leader, experienced in leading Operations teams to drive efficiency, impact, and cultural transformation. I have spent over a decade working in leadership roles across digital, VC-backed, and mission-led organisations. Previously I have been a Chief Operating Officer at a charity, and also a Director of Operations at a health tech start up.
What do you like about being a trustee at Become? It’s a huge privilege to be part of a board that not only centres care-experienced voices, but lives its values in every conversation. I love the sense of shared purpose across trustees and staff and the opportunity to use both my professional and personal experience to support an organisation that makes such a meaningful difference.
What drives you? I’m driven by fairness, and by the belief that no young person should be held back by the systems around them. My own journey from care to leadership has shown me what’s possible when people are given real chances and I want to help create more of those.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I live along the coast and love to spend time on long walks, sea swims, cocktails with friends and cooking for my family!
