Jamila Kamal (She/Her)

Training Support Assistant

What do you do at Become?

I am a part-time Training Support Assistant within the Training and Services team. I mainly deal with client liaison, finance-related queries, organisation and up-keep of important data/evaluations and support with creating training course material.

Can you say a bit about your past experience and qualifications?

I have nearly 10 years experience in work with children and young people, predominantly in the education sector. I spent many years as a primary school teacher and held head of year group and Humanities lead responsibilities. I later went on to doing both in-centre and private tutoring for primary school aged children. Working with children and young people has always been an aspect of work I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. Joining Become in 2024 has allowed me to fulfil a job role which positively impacts children and young people through the professionals that are linked with them.

What do you like about working at Become?

I really appreciate being a part of a team which is so incredibly motivated in keeping young people at the centre of every aspect of its work. Everyone who works at Become are extremely approachable and friendly- a joy to work with which can make predominantly working from home a lot more excitable.

What drives you?

Knowing that my work can greatly impact the livelihood of care-experienced young people. Knowing I can make a difference is a real driving factor!

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I love spending time with family especially doing outdoor activities with my two little children. I enjoy cooking a range of Bangladeshi dishes and experimenting with different flavours. I also love watching a good romantic-comedy movie or crime related docuseries.
