Digital Fundraising Assistant

What do you do at Become?

I’m Become’s Digital Fundraising Assistant, so I support the public fundraising team increase the donations we receive through our digital platforms and through our in-person fundraising events. I also help my team build relationships with our supporters and donors, making the generous people that donate and fundraise for Become feel valued and cherished!

Can you say a bit about your past experience and qualifications?

I studied Politics at the University of Sheffield, building my knowledge in everything from International Relations to Gender Studies. Whilst at university I completed an internship at the UK Women’s Budget Group, a feminist think tank that pushes for gender equality in economics, where I was able to work in the Communications, Policy and Public Affairs departments.

After this I went onto to work for Formy Books- a grassroots children’s publishers that creates diverse, inclusive and representative children’s books- as a Fundraising and Partnerships Assistant for 8 months before joining the team at Become!

What do you like about working at Become?

The team are incredibly supportive and put the young people we work with front-and-centre of everything we do. Everybody is so passionate about our mission, and our obligations to care-experienced young people as the charity FOR young care leavers. We’re an inclusive and vibrant team, with staff from all walks of life, having come so far but with so much more work to do.

What drives you?

Fighting injustice, inequality and bigotry, and working with others to build a fairer and more just world.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I’m a BIG reader, whether that’s a physical book or an audiobook. I love spending time with my friends in Sheffield, getting involved in different campaigns, and finding new ways to be creative!
