Senior Philanthropy Officer
What do you do at Become?
As Senior Philanthropy Officer, I connect with amazing supporters who want to make a difference and help turn their generosity into real-life opportunities for care-experienced young people. Think of me as the matchmaker between big-hearted donors and the life-changing work we do at Become. Plus, I always keep the snacks handy…philanthropy is hungry work!
Can you say a bit about your past experience and qualifications?
My career has been a bit of a mixtape. I’ve been a singer, jeweller, consultant, art gallery manager, and a drama teacher. For the past few years, I’ve focused on fundraising, combining creativity and connection to support meaningful causes. My last role was all about funding programs that used music as a superpower to change lives, foster connection, and combat isolation. I’ve always been passionate about making an impact.
What do you like about working at Become?
Everything! At Become, we’re all about making sure care-experienced children and young people feel seen, heard, and supported, and I get to be a part of that every single day. It’s inspiring to work with a team so dedicated to creating real, positive change, and it’s incredibly rewarding to connect with supporters who share that vision. Plus, there’s nothing quite like seeing the tangible difference our work makes in people’s lives. It’s a constant reminder of why I do what I do.
What drives you?
Making a difference. Knowing that the work I do helps to create brighter futures for people is what gets me out of bed every morning (that and a strong cup of tea!). I’m driven by the belief that everyone deserves the chance to thrive, no matter their start in life, and I love being part of a movement that makes that happen.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Spending time with my incredible family is my favorite thing. My two boys keep me on my toes and always entertained. When I’m not chasing after them, I love getting creative in the kitchen, catching a great show at the theatre, and sharing a good laugh (preferably with a tasty meal and great company). Life’s too short not to have a bit of fun.
