Evidence and Impact Officer
What do you do at Become?
I’m the Evidence and Impact Officer on the Policy team at Become, where I help to turn research and data into meaningful change. I make sure our policy influencing and campaigns are backed by solid evidence, keeping up with emerging research to stay ahead of the curve. I also work with teams across the organisation to level up how we assess, track, and share the impact of our services and programmes, ensuring everything we do makes a real difference for care-experienced young people.
Can you say a bit about your past experiences and qualifications?
I’ve always been passionate about the intersection of data and politics, which led me to pursue a dual degree in Statistics and Political Science during my undergrad. Professionally, I’ve worked primarily in research and data analytics. I spent two years working at a K-12 school district in Colorado, where I worked closely with teachers and administrators, helping them use data to inform their work. After that, I worked as a Data Analyst for a company that provided data services to colleges and universities, collaborating with university presidents and leaders to measure impact through data. Wanting to understand more about how research can drive real change, I went back to school for my Master’s in Public Policy. After completing my course, I started at Become!
What do you like about working at Become?
I love that Become doesn’t just identify a problem—it commits wholeheartedly to solving it, ensuring every idea and action is shaped by the voices and experiences of those who have been in care. I believe this approach makes our policy work both more effective and impactful, and it’s truly an honor to play my small part in that.
What drives you?
The dream of a better, kinder, and more beautiful world. When that dream feels distant or unattainable, I remind myself of a quote by Glennon Doyle: “Being human is not hard because you’re doing it wrong, it’s hard because you’re doing it right… things will be hard to do, but we can do hard things.”
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I love being outside and moving my body in all sorts of ways—running, biking, skiing, surfing, swimming, yoga, hiking, dancing. Bonus points if I can do any of this with friends. When I’m indoors, I’m probably curled up with my cat, reading a good book or watching bad reality TV.
