Advice and Support Officer
What do you do at Become?
My role involves being on the Care Advice Line which includes phone calls and emails. This is where care-experienced young people can gain support around any issues they are going through or ask any questions.
Can you say a bit about your past experience and qualifications?
My experience in this space started at giving emotional support to victims of crime and then I went on to complete a Level 3 Counselling Skills course. Eventually I worked with young people impacted by youth violence and county lines for a number of years. I also managed to work alongside professionals in children homes teaching how co-production with young people can be practised.
What do you like about working at Become?
I like the work that we do as I feel it is important for us to give advice and support to care experienced young people as best as we can and for them to be aware of their rights and entitlements. The team is also very supportive and welcoming and constantly think about how to be innovative which is amazing!
What drives you? Seeing young people achieve and going against all the odds.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? I enjoy riding motorbikes and cycling. I love catching up with friends and going comedy shows!
