What do you do at Become?
As Services Manager, I manage the Support and Engagement Team, whilst also working closely with the wider organisation. My aim is to ensure that our service users receive a high quality, holistic and inclusive service through our care advice service, coaching and workshop programmes. By achieving this, young people will be empowered and have an active role in key decisions that impact their lives.
Can you say a bit about your past experience and qualifications?
I am a qualified youth worker and social worker with over 20 years’ experience of working with young people in educational, community and local authority settings. My background of working within a local authority means that I have a good understanding of the systems and processes and constraints they work under. I have lots of experience in developing informal education programmes and working directly with young people on a range of issues including housing, benefits, rights and entitlements.
What do you like about working at Become?
It's lovely to work in a small organisation and one that is so passionately committed to improving the life chances of care-experienced young people.
What drives you?
Social justice, Equality and Respect.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I love travelling but have a particular love of Paris and I go there often. I also love shopping and eating out. For the last 13 years I have been teaching Sunday school to 2-4 year olds.
