Listening to You

We’re proud to be a voice for children in care and young care leavers. The only way that we can achieve that is by listening to you: early, often, and well. Our five principles for listening guide all of our activity, and help us to understand the issues that matter to you and how we can work together to create change.

Our Advisory Groups

We currently have two groups which meet quarterly to help inform our work - the Ideas and Influence Council and the Policy Advisory Group. Each is made up of a membership of care-experienced young people aged 16-25, who bring their knowledge and expertise to Become and other organisations.

Ideas and Influence Council

The Ideas and Influence Council contributes to Become’s strategy and how the charity is run. Members of this council help to design and advise on our services for young people, and work alongside our Board of Trustees to ensure we’re fulfilling our purpose.

Find out why Trey likes the Ideas and Influence Council in the video below.

Policy Advisory Group

The Policy Advisory Group helps to shape Become’s policy and campaigning activity. They offer their knowledge about the care system to help us influence decision makers, and support other organisations to consider the needs of children in care and care leavers.

If you'd like to get involved, we'd love to hear from you!

For further information about joining one of the boards, please contact Sam at sam.turner@becomecharity.org.uk

You can also contact Sam if you are a professional and would like to listen to the views of the care-experienced individuals we work with.
