Submission to the call for written evidence for the Civil Society Submission to the UN’s List of Issues Prior to Reporting (2020)

Our submission covers the five key rights breaches for children in care and young care leavers since the UK Government was last examined by the UN Committee in 2016 on its implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child:

  • instability for children in care;
  • increasing use of unregulated and out-of-area placements;
  • cuts to children's services funding exacerbating inequalities;
  • separation and lack of contact between siblings in care; and
  • poor support for young people leaving care.
