Are you care experienced and want to help other care experienced young people?

In partnership with Children in Need, we are looking for young care-experienced people aged 16-18 to help us develop a series of workshops on building and maintaining healthy relationships for other care experienced young people aged 13-18.

Who we are looking for

We are recruiting 5 care experienced young people who are willing to provide a few hours of their time every week for 8 weeks next year to help plan and design the workshops.

What will be happening

Your experience is invaluable, so we would like to brainstorm with you what content needs to be included in the workshops and any other ideas on how to make this a success. We value your time so you will be paid £10.75 an hour for it.

Where this will take place

The sessions will take place virtually on zoom once a week for a couple of hours over a 2-month period. No matter where in the UK you are based, you will be able to apply.

Why

We know there is an issue within the care system. We know the constant changes and instability mean care experienced young people may struggle to build and maintain positive relationships.

Due to your own experiences, you are the experts. We believe the sessions would be more impactful if it is something created for you by you.

This experience is also something great you can add to your CV as well as later down the line.

You will also have the opportunity to co-deliver the sessions you designed to different groups of care experienced young people.

How to get involved

If you think this is a project that you would be interested in, we would love to hear from you! To apply you can either create and submit a short video (max 2 mins) on why you would like to be a part of the project or write a one-page statement.

In your video or statement, please tell us what you think you could bring to the team, and why you believe you would be a good candidate. We would like you to also include a little bit about yourself, your thoughts on how you can build healthy relationships as a care-experienced person, and any experience you might have planning or delivering workshops.

Please submit your videos or statements to [email protected], through WeTransfer (https://wetransfer.com/). In the message box please do not forget to include your name, age and contact details so that we know who to contact if your application is successful.

Applications are open until 12 pm 28th January 2021

Please note: If you are under 18, it is important to make sure your parent/guardian is aware that you want to be a part of this project. We therefore will need consent. Consent forms and information about the project can be found here. Please attach the signed consent forms with your WeTransfer upload.

If you have any further questions you can email [email protected]  or get in contact with Tasha on 07393721212. The project will be led by Tasha, our Support and Engagement Officer.
