'Taking Care of Me'
Last year, we decided to run some sessions to support the wellbeing of the young people who use our support services. We were still in the grips of the coronavirus pandemic and for many people, this had a negative impact on their wellbeing.
We knew that many care-experienced young people have challenges in their lives that impact on wellbeing. They also have many skills, strengths, and resources to manage these challenges. We wanted to make sure these skills were captured and shared so they could help other young people in similar positions.
Over six months, the young people who attended our Tuesday Link-Up met with a clinical psychologist to share some of the ways they were already managing their wellbeing, and to learn more about these techniques.
Our new wellbeing guide ‘Taking Care of Me’ is a collection of those brilliant and incredibly valuable ideas.
The guide contains information about managing stress and improving your wellbeing, as well as some exercises for you to try. We hope that by sharing these ideas, other young people can benefit from the wisdom of the Link-Up group.
We want to say a massive thank you to Carmen, Florida, Rachele-Leah, Jasmine and the rest of the Link-Up group, who wish to remain anonymous for their contribution to the guide.
We are incredibly grateful.
