About the Role

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a creative and self-driven specialist in major donor fundraising who has already demonstrated success in this field.

Building networks and understanding what motivates our supporters, and aligning our activities with philanthropic interests, are crucial to our growth plans for this income stream. A primary focus of this role will be to identify potential donors capable of making transformational gifts. The post holder will work closely with the Trusts and Philanthropy Manager and Director of Fundraising, focusing on securing and nurturing long-term relationships with new major donors.

As a key member of our Fundraising team, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving high value fundraising performance and making a significant contribution to our ambitious plans to reach more children and young people to help them to believe in themselves and shape the future they want and to tackle the structural and systemic issues holding young people back.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

As an organisation serving children in care and young care leavers we are keen to receive applications from people with experience of care. We are actively seeking to bring diversity of perspectives and experience, and especially welcome applications from those from racially marginalized communities. We ask all applicants to fill in an Equity and Diversity Monitoring from to better understand the diversity of applicants. This is anonymous and cannot be connected with your application.

We recommend that you read our Guide for Job Applicants to assist you with your application to Become.

How to apply

At Become, we ask interested applicants to answer several competency-based questions.

Your application and answers will be reviewed anonymously to ensure fairness and help remove bias from the application process. You’ll need to send us your CV but it will only be considered if you score well as part of the anonymous review.

To apply, please follow the link to our recruitment platform here.

To apply for this role, you will need to:

  • Provide us with a copy of your CV;
  • Answer the questions below in no more than 400 words per question, providing relevant examples to demonstrate how you meet the skills and experience required;
  • Complete the Equity and Diversity Monitoring Form (this is not compulsory but the information is very useful to us).

The competency questions we would like you to answer as part of your application are:

  • What is your motivation to work for Become and why are you interested in working to support care-experienced children and young people?
  • Can you describe your experience with major donor fundraising, including any strategies you’ve successfully implemented and the outcomes achieved?
  • How would you approach developing and implementing a major donor strategy for Become?
  • How do you ensure that prospective donors effectively progress through different stages of the pipeline? What strategies or tools do you use to manage this process?
  • How do you handle multiple deadlines and priorities while maintaining high levels of donor engagement and investment? Can you share an example of how you’ve balanced these responsibilities in the past?

If you would like an informal chat before applying, please contact Becky Marley, Trusts and Philanthropy Manager: [email protected] and we will arrange a convenient time.

Please also tell us if there are any reasonable adjustments we can make to assist you in your application.

The deadline for applications to be received is 9am on Wednesday 16th October.
