Share your views with the government on placements in care
The government is seeking your views about placements in care by 23 June. Be sure to have your voice heard!
We’re grateful that the Department for Education has now extended its deadline for care experienced people to share their views and experiences of unregulated accommodation as part of a government consultation. The new deadline is 23 June 2020.
Become has worked alongside others in the #KeepCaringTo18 campaign group and the Department for Education to put together a new summary version of the consultation (linked below).
Earlier this year, the government proposed some changes to the rules for unregulated accommodation for children in care and care leavers and launched a consultation seeking views on their proposals. The deadline for other responses to the existing consultation currently remains as 3 June 2020.
Unregulated accommodation includes places like foyers, shared housing, supported accommodation, hostels, flats and other places where older teenagers in care often live.
We want to encourage and support anyone with experience of care – and particularly experience of living in unregulated accommodation – to contribute to this consultation. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Sam at [email protected] if you’d like any help in completing and submitting your thoughts.
