Biking for Children in Care

Biking for Children in Care

This a committed community. They've raised over £1,000,000 for us since their first ride in 2002. This year they're cycling 200 miles across the epic Jurassic Coast. Their fundraising is helping change the lives of care-experienced children and young people

What is Biking for Children in Care?

It began in 2002. Social worker Gill Timmis brought some friends together and they cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats to fundraise for Become when we were known as The Who Cares? Trust. The following year they brought more friends together to take on another cycling challenge. And the year after that. And after that. Now, Biking for Children in Care are saddling up for their 24th ride in 2025 to help care-experienced young people get the guidance, support, and love they need to thrive.

Over 3-7 July 2025, over 50 riders plus the amazing support crew are gearing up to cycle 200 miles over four days across the Jurassic Coast. Starting out from Exeter, they will ride to Seaton, on past Weymouth, then towards Bournemouth. From here, the team will ride through Lymington and towards the finish line in Southampton.

Fancy joining them? If you’re interested in joining the team in 2025 or 2026, drop us a line at [email protected]. FYI, this is a volunteer-organised ride—not an official Become event. Learn more about Biking for Children in Care on their website here. We think they’re brilliant.

“The Biking for Children in Care community have lifetime raised over £1,000,000 for us! This is huge for our small charity and care-experienced children and young people everywhere. We couldn't do it without you.”
