The State of It – Released Today
‘The State of It’, the second book by care-experienced author, Chris Wild, was released today.
The author, Chris Wild is also a youth ambassador, keynote speaker and a regular contributor on radio, TV and media forums. He aims to raise awareness around topics impacting looked-after children and young people in general, including mental health, addiction, and county lines dealing.
Chris says:
“The basis of my work is preparation for prevention, we cannot ignore the world we live in, but we can prepare our young people for the iniquities of life resulting in what will hopefully be a brighter and safer future.”
The State of It is a first-person account of Chris’s experiences as a care-experienced campaigner and care home consultant. He looks at the real lives of young people in the care system and the difficult issues they can encounter in care homes, from gang violence to exploitation.
The crucial message at the core of the book is: we are failing our young people, and something needs to change.
We are incredibly grateful that Chris has released The State of It in support of Become, with proceeds going towards our work to support young people in care and care leavers.
