Rights and Entitlements for Care Leavers in Higher Education

If you’re a professional and would like to book a workshop for a group of young people, please fill out the booking request form on this page.

We offer both in person and virtual sessions on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. For in person workshops, we require 10 young people to attend.

We ask that a member of staff from your organisation attends the workshop with the young people too.

This workshop is for care-experienced young people aged 15 – 27 who are thinking of attending or have recently started higher education.

The workshop is 1 hour long.

Attendees will learn:

  • What is my Care Leaver Legal Status and how does it affect the support I’m entitled to?
  • What is my local offer and what support am I entitled to from my local authority?
  • What support is available from my university and how can I get in contact with the care leaver contact?
  • What can I do if I’m not getting the support I need?

Applying for Higher Education for Care Leavers

The workshop is 1 hour long.

It covers:

  • An overview of UCAS
  • How to search and apply for courses
  • Information on clearing

We offer both in person and virtual sessions on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. For in person workshops, we require 10 young people to attend.

We ask that a member of staff from your organisation attends the workshop with the young people too.

Our Funding for Higher Education workshops are for young people, aged 16 – 27, considering entering higher education in the next 2 years.

The workshop is 1 hour long.

It covers:

  • Student Finance England application and evidence
  • Bursaries and scholarships
  • Support from the local authority and university
