Becky Marley (She/Her)

Trusts & Philanthropy Manager

What do you do at Become?

I am Trusts & Philanthropy Manager which means that I get to connect our work with a whole range of Trusts, Foundations and individuals, who care about our goals and want to support us to achieve them.

Can you say a bit about your past experience and qualifications?

I’ve worked in charities for nearly two decades now. I started out managing and delivering projects, working with a wide range of different people, groups and communities. This gives me a good insight into what it takes to make projects happen in real life, after the funds are raised! After some years I moved into fundraising, first as a sole fundraiser, doing everything from summer fetes to corporate partnerships, and then specialising in Trusts & Foundations for the last nine years.

What do you like about working at Become?

I love working for a charity with such a clear and strong driving mission, and which is meeting such a real and urgent need to improve lives. I love the way that Become lives out its values in how it carries out its work, with the young people’s voices at the heart of it.

What drives you?

I am driven by a sense of justice and strong need to feel that I am doing something worthwhile.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I spend quite a bit of time outdoors, and love to garden, especially growing veg. I also try to get some exercise into most days, often involving the dog. Lots of free time is taken up with family, and we love to get in the odd day and weekend away when we can, to visit different places. I have officially given up on trying to learn piano, but am plugging away at learning Italian.
