Our response to the Government Consultation on Working Together to Safeguard Children
The Department for Education has recently consulted on changes to its statutory guidance ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’. You can find the consultation here.
Our response
Our response to the consultation is informed by the views and experiences of the young people we work with and by our Services Team.
In our response, we call on the Government to ensure that the new guidance reflects the particular circumstances and challenges that care-experienced children face.
We also stress the need to ensure that the guidance is robust in requiring the sufficient resourcing of safeguarding activities at every level, given the current funding and staffing challenges across local authorities and other agencies.
